LUMS is a major School founded in 1964 with around 120 members of faculty, including 25 Professors, covering the full range of management subjects.  The School now constitutes around 25% of the staff and students at the University.  It is one of less than 100 Business Schools world wide (under 20 in the UK) to have been accredited by EQUIS through the European Foundation for Management Development as meeting high standards of quality, internationalisation and corporate connectedness.

 

LUMS is one of only three Business Schools in the UK to have achieved both the top 6* rating indicating excellence in research by international standards by the Higher Education Funding Council in the December 2001 exercise and also, in the latest assessment, to have been rated “Excellent” by the Council for the quality of our teaching in Business and Management.

Its full-time MBA (12 months) ranked in the top 100 MBA’s by the Financial Times (3rd in the UK and 10th in Europe) and by The Economist.  It attracts high-quality entry of 60-65 students from over 20 countries (around 30% from UK).  Up to one-quarter study or work abroad, sometimes as part of the supervised three-month project placement in a client organisation.

It also offers a part-time MBA programme (over 24 months) and a unique range of specialist Masters programmes in Accounting and Financial Management; Advanced Marketing Management; E-Business and Innovation; Finance; HRD and Consulting; HR and Knowledge Management; Information Technology, Management and Organisational Change; International Business (Economics); Management; Management and the Environment; Money, Banking & Finance; Project Management, and Operational Research.

The full-time and part-time MBA programmes are accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

 

LUMS delivers a full-time ESRC-recognised PhD in Management, rated in the top 10 in the world by the Financial Times.

 

Its Accounting and Finance department is the UK’s only department to have been accorded the highest, grade 5 or 5*, research rating in every Research Assessment Exercise.

 

It has a fast growing Management Development Division through which a very wide range of executive development programmes at Certificate, Diploma and Masters levels is co-ordinated.  Organisations with which the Division has co-operated include BAe Systems, Royal and SunAlliance, Pilkingtons, Lufthansa, Fujitsu, Motorola, British Telecom, Red Cross, and Astra Zeneca.

Partnerships

LUMS has developed an innovative European Management double degree for undergraduates, jointly with Reims Management School (France); ICADE (Spain); European School of Business, Reutlingen (Germany) and UCSC, Piacenza (Italy).

It is also a participating institution in the prestigious International Masters Program in Practicing Management (IMPM) being taught jointly with INSEAD (France), the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) and McGill (Canada), two Japanese Universities and KDI (South Korea).

It offers study abroad opportunities at graduate and undergraduate levels through a network of leading university business schools in Europe, including Copenhagen Business School; EM LYON; Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris / EAP; Koblenz School of Corporate Management; Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi (Milan); Erasmus University (Rotterdam); Hochschule St Gallen; ICADE (Madrid) and Universidad Comercial de Deusto

 

It also has student exchange links with top North American Universities and Business Schools including British Columbia (Vancouver), HEC and McGill (Montreal), Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa, Emory, Michigan (Ann Arbor) and Rice (Texas).  Exchanges also with ITESM, Mexico, the National University of Singapore and City University and HKUST, Hong Kong and a range of top Universities in Australia and New Zealand.
